Artist Biography
For over fifteen years, my practice has unfolded within the ever-evolving landscape of abstract art, guided by an intuitive reverence for texture, transformation, and the natural world. At the heart of my work lies a devotion to organic materials—particularly the intricate structures of mushroom burrs. Through a month-long preservation process I've developed, I’m able to capture their ephemeral beauty, rendering them timeless. When paired with the radiance of 24-karat gold, these elements become vessels for dialogue—between impermanence and endurance, the raw and the refined.
My artistic journey began long before these current explorations took form. As a child growing up with weekends immersed in the Canadian Rockies, I found magic in the act of collecting, observing, and imagining. Nature was both playground and teacher, and creativity became a way of seeing the world—one that has since evolved into a disciplined yet deeply intuitive studio practice. I remain rooted in that early wonder, now channeled into work that honors the overlooked, the fragile, and the transformative.
Each piece I create is a quiet invitation—to pause, to witness, and to reconnect with the sacred textures of the natural world. Abstract art has given me a language that moves beyond explanation, offering instead a space for feeling and reflection.
Today, I continue to develop and expand four ongoing series: Fungal Alchemy, Gilded Botanica, Rituals of Release, and an ever-evolving collection of one-of-a-kind creations. With this growing body of work, I aim to share not only visual resonance but a sense of presence—a moment of stillness in a fast-moving world. Through this practice, I seek to bridge the ancient with the contemporary, the organic with the eternal.
Artist Statement
My work emerges from a fascination with the natural world—its textures, rhythms, and quiet transformations. Working primarily with organic materials, I’m particularly drawn to mushroom burrs, which I preserve through a month-long process that crystallizes their delicate intricacies. Paired with the enduring warmth of 24-karat gold, these forms become meditations on balance—between decay and permanence, chaos and refinement.
This exploration is rooted in childhood: in days spent gathering fragments of the forest floor, building imagined worlds, and absorbing the subtle teachings of the Canadian wilderness. Creativity was encouraged, nurtured by family and nature alike—a gift for which I remain profoundly grateful.
Today, my practice is both instinctive and intentional. I approach each piece as a dialogue with material, allowing form and texture to guide the process. The result is work that seeks to evoke rather than explain—inviting viewers into a sensory and emotional experience.
Through my ongoing collections—Fungal Alchemy, Gilded Botanica, Rituals of Release, and others—I hope to offer quiet spaces of reflection and wonder. My intention is to reveal the sacred within the natural, and to offer beauty that feels at once ancient and newly discovered.
